This advanced professional development course adopts a blended learning approach, using the principles of problem-based learning to develop your enquiry skills and place this in the context of patient care.
You鈥檒l be introduced to topics through keynote lectures that will involve a mixture of theory, case based discussions and facilitated group discussions. Teaching will be to the wider group to enhance your understanding and decision-making, taking into account what the investigations and interventions represent for the patient. This approach will ensure that you encounter a wide range of case histories and abnormal findings. It will also develop your ability to make defensible decisions rather than simply arriving at the correct answer without a logical argument to back up the decision.
Following the lectures, you鈥檒l be expected to explore each topic in greater depth, and in relation to your own area of practice, through self-directed learning. You鈥檒l be encouraged to consider current research evidence and use this to inform your clinical decision-making and communication skills.
In terms of assessment, you can expect problem-based learning case presentations, interactive quizzes, written assignments, multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and extended matching questions (EMQs) exams.
